Frequently Asked Questions
If you are committing to a large-scale realism piece, you need complete clarity. Below are the answers to the most common questions I get regarding my process, pricing, and my private studio in Sheffield.
Pricing & Single-Sitting Sleeves
At Liam Rebel Tattoos, pricing is based on session duration, ranging from £270 for a 3-hour sitting to £700 for a 10-hour leg themed sleeve. This "Honest Pricing" model ensures you receive my undivided expertise in a premium, one-on-one environment without the rushed pressure of fixed-price quotes.
Booking, Deposits & Cancellations
No. To save you time and avoid unnecessary trips to Chapeltown, all my bookings and consultations are handled online. Once you secure your slot, I will guide you on how to submit your reference photos and ideas digitally.
Quotes & Estimates
The most efficient way is to submit our Get a Quote form (/get-a-quote) for a free digital quote. Provide details on the subject matter, size (e.g., A4 or A5), and placement, and I will recommend the best duration-based session to achieve the highest quality result.
The Studio & The Experience
Yes — the studio is fully open and taking bookings. The Companies House record for "Liam Rebel Tattoos Ltd" (dissolved 2025) refers to a former limited company that was closed when the business switched to operating as a sole trader. The studio itself never closed: Liam Rebel Tattoos is the trading name of sole trader Liam Revill, working from the same private studio at 3A Station Road, Chapeltown, Sheffield. You can book online right now via the Book Online page.
Portrait Requirements & Placement
I specialise in memorial tattoos and understand you may not always have professional photos of a passed loved one or pet. Send me what you have, and I will assess if I can digitally enhance the contrast enough to create a workable, high-quality realism reference.
Design, Preparation & Policies
Absolutely. Unlike many studios, I provide digital mockups for approval based on your high-resolution reference photos. I will send the design to you before your appointment date so we can make minor tweaks and start tattooing immediately when you arrive. For complete redesigns, there is a £50 fee to cover the extra design time.
Preparation & The Session Day
Arrive well-rested, hydrated, and ensure you have eaten a solid breakfast. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area we are tattooing and that you don't mind getting ink on.
Tattoo Aftercare
Keep it wrapped for the first few hours, then wash it gently with lukewarm water and mild, unscented soap. After 24 hours, apply a thin layer of a fragrance-free lotion (like Aquaphor) 3 to 4 times a day.
Touch-ups & Trust Signals
Yes, I provide one free touch-up within 3 months of your appointment, provided you have strictly followed my aftercare instructions. Any touch-ups required due to negligence—such as sun exposure, picking, or swimming—will be charged at my standard hourly rate.
Themed Sleeves vs. Custom Projects
The main difference comes down to creative control and design time. A Themed Sleeve is for clients who have a broad concept in mind (like Greek Mythology or wild animals); you provide the theme, and I create the sleeve. Because I have the creative freedom to design a bold, cohesive piece that flows with the body, I can put together an incredible full sleeve design highly efficiently.
A Custom or Personalised Sleeve involves very specific images, fonts, and layouts that a client already has pictured in their head. Translating those exact micro-demands usually requires multiple design edits and extensive back-and-forth correspondence. Often, designing a highly personalised sleeve can take more time than the actual tattooing process itself, which is why it strictly does not fit into the rapid, single-sitting framework of a Themed Sleeve.
Portfolio & Gallery
I update the gallery and social media monthly with fresh work. For the most recent healed results and themed sleeves in progress, follow my Instagram for daily studio updates.
Location & Travel
The studio is in Chapeltown, 5 miles north of Sheffield city centre — about 12 minutes by car via the A61 or M1 Junction 35, or 15 minutes on the Penistone Line from Sheffield station (trains every 20 min). Also easily reached from Ecclesfield, High Green, Grenoside, and Thorpe Hesley. See /locations/sheffield for full directions.
Blog & Tattoo Knowledge
The blog covers the technical and creative side of black and grey realism—portrait session preparation, the 'Rule of Three' behind themed sleeves, evidence-based aftercare advice, process deep dives, client stories, and the evolution of realism in South Yorkshire.
